It’s fun to watch whales from the comfort of kayaks, especially with others paddling along with you. Seeing whales and sea lions can be a spectacular experience and a lot of fun, but you don’t want to get too close to the whales or seals or other sea lions. When we were on a kayaking trip with several people, the first thing that happened was a bit of an accident when one of the people in our group was trying to bait humpback whales for a photograph. Luckily there were a couple of other kayakers nearby who quickly helped save our kayaking time, but it definitely made some people uncomfortable.

There are two main areas in the Pacific Ocean where sea kayaking with whales is allowed. One is San Juan Island in the state of Washington and it is open to all kayakers with proper licenses. The other is Orcas Island in the state of California. If you do decide to kayak in these waters, you have to watch out for the highly aggressive killer whales, grey whales, and other large animals such as porpoises.

While there are no marine animals found in the Pacific Ocean in this area, it is a great place to see whales and other marine life. There are a variety of places to sight whales including Coleman Park in San Juan, which is the most common location for humpback whales to give birth. There are also several spots around this area that are good places to observe grey whales as well as other large whales. It is best to get your kayak out onto the water at these locations at night as most whales are not seen at night.

There are also several other areas in the Pacific Ocean that are popular with both human kayakers and other species of sea lions. There are certain times of the year when these predators come out of their winter hibernation and attack small calves that are still swimming in the water. It is the best times to go kayaking with whales and other marine wildlife because these attacks are usually very rare and occur most often at night.

When kayaking with orcas and other large marine mammals it is important to have excellent equipment. Orcas have incredible hearing and sight so it is important to have as much noise repellent equipment on board as possible. I recommend the use of ear plugs to keep the loud sounds from upsetting your kayaking adventure. Some kayakers prefer to simply stay out at sea on their kayaks and let the orca take care of itself.
